NFL Network Draft Analyst Daniel Jeremiah Intrigued By Titans Possibilities in Draft’s Second Round

NASHVILLE – The start of the NFL Draft is now less than a week away.

Next Thursday in Green Bay, the Titans will be on the clock.

On a Friday conference call, NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah said what a lot of folks seem to be thinking.

“It sure feels like a slam dunk,” Jeremiah said. “I’d be pretty shocked if they didn’t go Cam Ward with the first overall pick.”

If that ends up being the case, Tennessee’s next pick is currently scheduled to be in the second round, 35th overall.

During the conference call, Jeremiah discussed what the Titans could do to help Ward right out of the gate.

“What’s the intrigue when they get to 35?,” Jeremiah said. “I think there’s a lot of different directions they could look to go there. Usually when you invest in a young quarterback there is a commitment to try and really support him and help him on that side of the ball. You could look at the wide receiver position there, at pick No.35.

“I look at a guy like (Jayden) Higgins from Iowa State. He would be a fun player to drop into that mix, to give (Ward) a nice weapon to play with. I know they have other areas they could go, especially on the defensive side of the ball. But when you invest in that first overall pick you want that pick to make you look smart, and it tends to lead you to stay on that side of the ball once you get to the next round.”

Higgins, a 6-4, 214-pounder, is a highly regarded prospect who tallied 87 catches for 1,183 yards and nine touchdowns in 2024.

Jeremiah said he has Missouri receiver Luther Burden III ranked just above Higgins, and he thinks the Titans could be in a position to pick him as well.

“Luther Burden, I think there’s a chance he could be there at that point and time,” Jeremiah said of the 6-foot, 206-pounder who racked up 127 catches for 1,888 yards and 15 touchdowns over the past two seasons. “As a player, he reminded me a lot of Stefon Diggs coming out of Maryland. … He’s outstanding, one of the best run after catch receivers in this draft, if not the best run after catch receivers in this draft.

“So, I think that (Burden) would make a lot of sense, and I think that would be a value pick for them there. And somebody, who with Cam Ward – two things, let them grow together, which I love, and also you get a chance to give him some early completions and pile up some yards after the catch. That one I would think would be an outstanding value find if he were to be there at that point.”
