It’s been just under two weeks since the UConn Huskies won the 2025 NCAA National Championship, and only a few days since the 2025 WNBA Draft. Sadly, both of those events put a pretty little bow on the 2024-2025 college basketball season and mark that it’s all officially over. But if you’re anything like me, this dead period between the end of college basketball and that start of The W season is the worst. What am I supposed to do with all this newfound free time I have? Watch men’s basketball??? Tuh!
Thankfully, I found something to occupy myself: reliving all of the excitement from the college games. While this season was so good on the court of course, some of my favorite moments actually came from the sidelines. I’m not talking about top-tier bench celebrations, I’m talking about the coaches who were stepping when it came to their game day looks. So to ease my aching basketball-loving soul until The W tips off in about a month, I’ve rounded up the best-dressed women’s college basketball coaches from this year. I’m pretty sure this list will surprise approximately no one, but if you disagree or think someone else should be added, let’s fight about it discuss! My DMs are open for all things women’s basketball and women’s basketball only 😇.
Without further ado, keep scrolling for the best-dressed women’s college basketball coaches from this past season.
Dawn Staley, Head Coach at University of South Carolina
It just makes sense to lead off with Dawn, doesn’t it? The epitome of the Rich Auntie, Coach Staley always brings her Philly swag to the sidelines. She’s usually in at least one designer piece, but she knows that just because it has a label doesn’t mean it’s a look. She does such a good job of considering silhouettes, color schemes, and function, too. My favorite part of her style, though, is how she shows off her playful and thoughtful sides by always rocking stacks and stacks of homemade beaded necklaces and bracelets from young fans.
Kim Mulkey, Head Coach at LSU
Hate it or love it, Kim Mulkey makes this list because she is someone who leans aaallll the way into her personal style, which is maximalism on full display. She’s known for rocking a zany suit or an ultra-statement jacket, and while her looks might not be for everyone, they are always a conversation starter and most importantly, so her. You gotta respect the originality because truly no one is doing it—or will ever do it—like Kim Mulkey.
Sydney Carter, Assistant Coach at Texas
I mean, no brainer, right? Sydney Carter is one of the reasons we’re even having these conversations around fashion and sports. She’s the cool older sister whose closet you secretly raid and the dope big cousin you brag to all your friends about. And she’s definitely the friend in the group chat that everyone runs their ‘fits by when packing for a trip. I’m so obsessed with her looks, as are the rest of her 1.5 million Instagram followers. One of the things that stands out most about her style is that it’s so versatile: she loves a dress and skirt situation, but won’t shy away from a chic-as-hell suit or even a tie. There are times where she leans into the ~Texas Longhorn~ of it all—like wearing a Canadian tuxedo with a bolo tie or a pair of knee-high cowhide boots—but it’s always executed in a way that’s sophisticated, a little cheeky, and tasteful. You see her personal style through a full 360 lens, too, since she never shies away from giving the people a full look in her beauty routine. My good sis’ hair and nails are always a moment, okay!
Niele Ivey, Head Coach at Notre Dame
Coach Ivey has the most conventional coach’s look out of everyone on this list, but she puts a fresh, elevated spin on it that sets her a part from the majority. On game days, you’ll usually see her in a classic column dress, pencil skirt, or suit—but don’t get it twisted, the looks are never boring. She’ll sometimes pop out in a designer piece, like an Alexander McQueen blazer, Tom Ford heels, or a cool-girl approved cropped denim Prada jacket. My favorite is when she’ll give us a matching set moment, like the above pinstripe gray vest and high-slit skirt. Also! Who you know that can coach 40 minutes (but actually ~2 hours in real-life time) while wearing So Kates?! NIELE IVEY, that’s who! Enough said.
