Nico Iamaleava addresses rumors throwing Tennessee’s playoff game at Ohio State

Tennessee redshirt sophomore quarterback Nico Iamaleava entered the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday, the first day the spring window was open.

Friday on Instagram, he discussed his last game with the Vols at Ohio State in the College Football Playoff first round. No. 8 seed Ohio State (11-2, 7-2 Big Ten) defeated No. 9 seed Tennessee (10-3, 6-2 SEC), 42-17.

“D**n I tried to sit out and throw the playoff game too?,” Iamaleava posted in a story on Instagram. “These boys just make me laugh man ain’t no way.”

He also referenced a photo of him standing beside former teammate Navy Shuler. “Me and Navy Shuler talm about how ima throw this game rq,” Iamaleava said.

Iamaleava appeared in 18 games for the Vols from 2023-24. He completed 241-of-379 passing attempts for 2,930 yards, 21 touchdowns and five interceptions. Iamaleava also recorded 435 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 129 attempts.
