Brother of former Tennessee football quarterback to transfer from SEC

The NCAA spring transfer portal window will remain open through Friday.

The spring transfer window has showcased two brothers from the SEC entering the NCAA transfer portal. Redshirt sophomore Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava transferred from the Vols and committed to UCLA. His brother, Madden Iamaleava, is planning to also enter the transfer portal.

Madden Iamaleava is a freshman quarterback and signed with Arkansas in the class of 2025.

“Arkansas four-star true freshman quarterback Madden Iamaleava informed Arkansas today that he’s currently planning on entering the transfer portal, sources tell CBS Sports/247Sports,” Matt Zenitz of 247Sports said. “Iamaleava, the younger brother of Nico Iamaleava, flipped to Arkansas from UCLA in December and enrolled in January.”

Nico Iamaleava played in 18 contests for Tennessee from 2023-24. He completed 241-of-379 passing attempts for 2,930 yards, 21 touchdowns and five interceptions. The former Vol also totaled 435 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 129 attempts.

The SEC prohibits student-athletes who transfer within the conference during the spring window from playing the following season.
