The NFL draft is two days away, and Colorado‘s Shedeur Sanders could be the linchpin of the entire first round. Does he go to the Cleveland Browns, the New York Giants, or does he fall to No. 21 and land with the Pittsburgh Steelers? Those are all questions that will be answered on Thursday evening, and everything seems to be pointing to the New York Giants as the most significant decision-makers.
The Giants scheduled a last-minute workout with Sanders last week, and by all accounts, it was a success, but it does not seem like New York is truly set on picking a quarterback after signing Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston.
The latest odds from Bet MGM have the Giants tied with the Saints, who hold the No. 9 overall pick, as the third-highest odds at +350 to draft Sanders. The two favorites are the Steelers and the Browns at +250.
Both favorites are not surprising, especially considering Sanders’ recent comments saying he expected the Browns to draft him or his Colorado teammate, Travis Hunter, at No. 2 overall. Hunter is the heavy favorite on Bet MGM to go No. 2 overall to the Browns at -2000.
If Sanders goes in the first three picks, he seems likely to go to the Giants based on the recent last-minute workout and the Browns’ focus on the top two defensive players in the draft, Penn State’s Abdul Carter and Hunter. Sanders heading to the Browns and the Giants would be a surprise at this point, based on the latest odds.
The Saints and Steelers remain the two teams to watch in the Shedeur Sanders sweepstakes, currently the betting favorites.
