Tennessee baseball dropped in all five major college baseball polls coming off its series loss to Kentucky over the weekend. UT combined to score just three runs on nine hits to lose games two and three, after winning the opener on Friday night, 8-2.
The National College Baseball Writers Association dropped the Vols one spot, D1Baseball and Perfect Game dropped them two spots, and Baseball America and the Coaches poll dropped them three spots.
“Texas remains No. 1 in the D1Baseball Top 25 for the second straight week after sweeping a top-10 series against Auburn,” D1Baseball wrote. “LSU is back up two spots this week to No. 7 after taking a series from ranked Alabama. Georgia falls five spots to No. 10 after getting swept by Vanderbilt, which leaps 10 spots to No. 9. And Auburn slips three spots to No. 11 after the Texas series loss.
“Clemson moves up a spot to No. 2 after taking a series from Louisville, which falls two spots to No. 19. Oregon State jumps to No. 3 after a 4-0 week that included a midweek road win at UCLA. And Florida State slides up three spots to No. 4 despite playing just one Tuesday game this week, a product of three teams ranked ahead of the Seminoles losing their weekends: Arkansas (down three spots to No. 5), Tennessee (down two to No. 6), and aforementioned Georgia.”
10 SEC teams are ranked by D1Baseball for the third consecutive week. Joining Tennessee in D1Poll’s is Texas (No. 1), Arkansas (No. 5), LSU (No. 7), Vanderbilt (No. 9), Georgia (No. 10), Auburn (No. 11), Oklahoma (No. 14), Alabama (No. 18) and Ole Miss (No. 23).
“No. 7 Tennessee (33-7) all drop in the poll after losing their weekend series’ but remain in the Top-10 due to their body of work,” Perfect Game added.

So it’s up to us to point out some things that need to improve.
