Why Alabama football DC Kane Wommack thinks Jalen Milroe will find NFL success

As Alabama football’s defensive coordinator, Kane Wommack had to face Jalen Milroe each day in practice. And as the NFL draft nears and as Milroe comes closer and closer to finding his professional home, Wommack knows exactly what an NFL team will be getting.

“The guy comes in the building every day with a great attitude, a great mindset,” Wommack said on WNSP 105.5 FM in Mobile Tuesday. “He’s the first one in the building. You can’t beat the guy in. He’s a college young man who’s in this building at 4 a.m., 3:30, watching film, getting his body ready for practice. Certainly in that regard, he operates as a professional.”

As a quarterback, Milroe, Wommack said, is “a special talent,” one that will shine if given the right opportunity.

“From the ability to throw the ball, to run the ball, he’s a very gifted athlete,” Wommack said. “And I think as he continues to develop his game, he does have a special opportunity, And as he continues to figure those things out, under the right organization and the right fit, Jalen Milroe can be a very special player.”

In two seasons as Alabama‘s quarterback, Milroe had 5,678 passing yards, 1,257 rushing yards and 71 touchdowns along with 17 interceptions.

In November, Wommack described Milroe’s “gravitational pull” throughout the Alabama football facilities.

“(He) doesn’t ever walk by you in the hallway without saying hello or asking about your family, asking how you’re doing,” Wommack said. “And I think a guy like that is just really impressive, to me, the way he carries himself. I enjoy being around him. I enjoy talking to him all the time.”
