Concerns existed regarding Seth McLaughlin when he joined the Buckeyes from the transfer portal last offseason. Despite starting at Alabama for the majority of two seasons, McLaughlin encountered snapping issues in 2023 with the Crimson Tide. However, he demonstrated no problems as the Scarlet and Gray’s starting center last season before suffering an Achilles injury prior to the penultimate game of the regular season.
McLaughlin’s recovery from the injury, which did not prevent him from winning the Rimington Trophy as the best center in college football in 2024, is progressing well, and he should be ready by the time an NFL team needs him in his rookie season. At some point, even an injured, experienced and talented center becomes too good to pass up.
