Alabama Community College Conference Division II Baseball Tournament Comes Back to Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — It was a busy Sunday at Riverwalk Stadium, and this time it wasn’t the Biscuits cracking bats.

For the first time in 18 years, Montgomery hosted the Alabama Community College Conference Division II Baseball Tournament, bringing players and fans from across the state to the capital city. On Sunday, Enterprise State and Wallace-Dothan faced off at Riverwalk Stadium, with Wallace-Dothan taking the win, 15–2.

For many fans, it was their first time visiting Montgomery — and they had high praise for the experience.

“When my husband told me the coach said we’re staying near the Eastchase shops, I said, ‘Oh, I’m very excited for the shopping,’” said Shelby Frichter, an Enterprise State fan. “The hospitality has been amazing. The welcoming environment, the food — just this overall Southern hospitality kind of feel — makes me feel very at home.”

Ray Wright, another Enterprise State supporter, agreed.

“It’s been great. Hospitality has been perfect,” Wright said. “I’ve spent a lot of time around Eastchase shopping with my wife. The kids are staying there too, so I’m close to my son if he needs anything. I’ve been driving back and forth every day, so it’s been a journey each day, but it’s been great.”

Warrick Wilmot, a Wallace-Dothan fan, also praised both the stadium and the city.

“I love this place, especially the stadium, but not only the stadium — the city as well,” Wilmot said. “I think there’s a lot of culture and history here. It’s beautiful, and it’s a great attraction — maybe slept on — but I think Montgomery is a place anyone should come visit.”
