Kentucky vaults to No. 3 in a preseason top 25 ranking

The Kentucky Wildcats are building a roster that looks like one that will be ranked high in the top 25 polls to start the 2025-26 college basketball Season.

The Wildcats recently got themselves another shooter. Florida transfer guard Denzel Aberdeen is committing to Kentucky after not long after entering the transfer portal. Aberdeen was a key part of the Gators’ National Championship team this past season, averaging 7.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 rebounds while playing 19.7 minutes per game.

In the National Championship against Houston, Aberdeen scored a crucial seven points and pulled down two rebounds.

Aberdeen’s commitment has vaulted Kentucky to No. 3 in The Field of 68’s Way Too Early Top 25. The Wildcats are the top SEC team in the rankings, with six total teams from the SEC in the rankings.

Kentucky and Louisville are No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, which will make for a heavyweight battle between the two Bluegrass rivals this upcoming season. Rick Pitino’s St. John’s Red Storm are No. 5, and John Calipari’s Arkansas Razorbacks are No. 8.

Reigning SEC regular-season champion Auburn is No. 11, Alabama is No. 14, reigning champion Florida is No. 16, and Tennessee is No. 21.

The SEC should be ultra-competitive again this upcoming season, and the Wildcats will hopefully be in the running to win the league’s regular-season crown.

Aberdeen gives them a championship experience that already adds to a talented and versatile roster. This season could be very fun in Lexington.
