What if he’s playing one last prank on us and comes back for one more year? – An X user commented on behalf of all of us. 40-year-old Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, played his last NHL game against his former team, the Vegas Golden Knights, in Game 6 of Round 1 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Fleury has officially retired from the ice hockey rink, leaving everyone sad with hope for his arrival anytime soon.

An X user wrote – The “Marc Andre fleury has signed a 1 day contract to retire a penguin” tweet in a few months gonna hit like crack I reckon. Fleury, the Flower of the NHL, was longest with the Pittsburgh Penguins. His fans want him to retire a Penguin.
“I’m not crying, you are crying.” – everybody around the globe cannot digest the fact that Marc-Andre Fleury bid goodbye to the ice hockey rink. After all, he was – “Best goalie in Pens history. Who doesn’t love the Flower?”
Picked by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2003 NHL draft, as the first overall pick, goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury stayed with them, till the end of the 2016-2017 NHL season. Fleury had the best save percentage with the Penguins – .921! One X user said, “The Pens should have never let him go”, but they did.
And enter the Vegas Golden Knights. For four long seasons, the Golden Knights had the privilege of Marc-Andre Fleury playing for them, wherein he had his career-highest save percentage of .928! So, so capable. So, so legendary. An X user rightly wrote, “1,000+ games, 500+ wins, and 3 Stanley Cups… what a career & a great teammate to all that played with him… so long Flower, you will be missed!”
Thereafter for a season, Marc-Andre Fleury was with the Chicago Blackhawks where he played 45 games and had a save percentage of .908! Fleury, then was picked by the Minnesota Wild, where he played the last four NHL seasons of his career. His last game on the ice hockey rink was against his own former team – Vegas Golden Knights.
In his Vegas time, Fluery was a part of their Stanley Cup Final, too! The Knights paid a lasting tribute to Marc-Andre Fleury on the ice hockey rink with the warmest handshakes, loudest cheers, and beary hugs. An X user wrote, “Man What a career flower has had idk how to act I’ve never watched hockey without fleury in the league.”
