Yavapai College Baseball Falls Short in Game 1 of Playoffs

This past weekend, the ACCAC and NJCAA Region 1 playoffs began, and the 4-seed Yavapai College went on the road for the best of 3 series vs. the 1-seed #14 Southern Nevada. The first game was on Thursday, May 1st, starting at 3 pm, and even though Yavapai was able to get out to a strong start, the Coyotes rallied back at home and would end up winning the first game 8-13.

The Roughriders were not able to score any home runs in this game.

Justin Cherrington had 2 RBI and 1 run, while Carson Feddema had 2 total runs! The other runs were run in by AJ Diaz, Kevin Ramos, Caleb Horsey, Liam Richards, and Jackson Schofield. Diaz, Ramos, Horsey, and Richards all had 1 RBI each, as well as one from Brady Francisco.

Collin Adams had 4 strikeouts in 5.2 innings, and Owen Fernandes had 2 K’s, facing only 5 batters!

Justin Cherrington had 9 putouts and 2 double plays, while Brady Francisco had 6 putouts. Both Kevin Ramos and Matthew Peterson had 3 assists and 2 double plays each!
