Mikhail McLean signs extension with Kentucky through 2027

Kentucky Wildcats assistant coach Mikhail McLean is sticking around, signing a new deal through the 2026-27 season. The 33-year-old will earn $400,000 in 2025-26 and $425,000 the following year, up from his initial $150,000 contract, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.

McLean joined Mark Pope’s staff last spring after stints at Lamar and Houston, where he played under Kelvin Sampson. A native of Nassau, Bahamas, McLean also serves as associate head coach for the Bahamian National Team.

In his first year with the Wildcats, McLean primarily worked with the frontcourt, playing a key role in the development of Amari Williams, Andrew Carr, and Brandon Garrison.

Meanwhile, assistant Mark Fox is expected to remain with the program, though a new contract has yet to be finalized, according to the Herald-Leader.

Fellow assistants Alvin Brooks III, Cody Fueger, and Jason Hart are under contract through 2025-26. Brooks will earn $825,000, and Fueger and Hart will get $525,000.

Safe to say Pope has a promising staff on his hands.
