UCLA is adding another player to next season’s roster — forward Anthony Peoples Jr. out of North Carolina Central.
The 6’9, 225-pound Peoples is expected to provide depth and increase the physicality of practice. As a junior last year, he averaged five points and 2.4 rebounds per game. The expectation is that he would provide an emergency backup at center as well, behind newcomers Xavier Booker and Steven Jamerson.
The Bruins have remade their roster this offseason, with UCLA picking up New Mexico point guard Donovan Dent, Kansas City wing Jamar Brown, Booker, Jamerson, and now Peoples. The addition of Peoples gives UCLA 11 players on roster for next season in those five plus holdovers Tyler Bilodeau, Eric Dailey, Trent Perry, Skyy Clark, Eric Freeny, and Brandon Williams.
Peoples Jr. was at North Carolina Central last year, but before that he played at Lewis Clark State, where he played in 61 games over two seasons to begin his college career. As a sophomore, he averaged 6.7 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game.
