The Odessa College baseball team moved one step closer to advancing to the next round of the region tournament by defeating Cisco College 8-4 Thursday at Wrangler Ballpark.
Playing in Game 1 in a best-of-three series in the first round of the Southwest District Tournament, the Wranglers improved to 39-14 while Cisco College fell to 34-22.
Odessa College never trailed, building a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning before Cisco College tied things up in the top of the third.
However, the Wranglers took a 4-2 lead in the bottom half of the third and used a three-run inning in the fifth to take a 7-2 lead.
Odessa College finished with 11 hits and two errors while Cisco College had seven hits and no errors.
Both teams will meet back up in Game 2 at 1 p.m. Friday at Wrangler Ballpark where one more win will see Odessa College through to the next round.
