‘This means everything’: Memphis and Louisville to renew college hoops rivalry

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The Memphis Tigers and Louisville Cardinals have agreed to a series of games in the next few years that will renew a storied rivalry.

The series will last 6 years, starting on December 13, 2025, where Louisville will host the Tigers at the KFC Yum! Center.

In 2026-27, the series will then move to the FedEx Forum, where Memphis will host.

Specific times, dates, and venues are being finalized for the rest of the series that will last through the 2030-31 season.

Coach Penny Hardaway said, “Renewing this rivalry with Louisville means everything, not just for Memphis, but for college basketball as a whole.”

“These are the kinds of games that bring out the best in both programs, energize fan bases, and are the reason players want to come at Memphis.”

“There’s real history and passion between us, and we are thrilled to help bring it back and give our fans – and the sport – something special to look forward to the next six years.”

This year will mark the first meeting between the two squads since 2017.

The Tigers and Cardinals have squared off in 90 games across 4 different conferences before being separated due to conference realignment.
