Alabama basketball to play twice at Madison Square Garden in 2025: New opponent announced

Another match-up on Alabama basketball‘s 2025-26 nonconference slate has been set.

According to an announcement by Yea Alabama, the university’s NIL collective, the Crimson Tide will face Illinois after defeating the Fighting Illini 100-87 in the 2024 C.M. Newton Classic.

This November, Alabama will make the trip to New York to meet Illinois in Madison Square Garden.

Earlier Thursday, college basketball insider Jon Rothstein reported another game in The World’s Most Famous Arena for the Crimson Tide. On Saturday, Nov. 8, Alabama will be in the venue to meet St. John’s, which will reportedly see Alabama again in Birmingham during the 2026-27 season.

The Crimson Tide confirmed it will also face Purdue in November. Other confirmed appearances on Alabama’s nonconference schedule include Arizona in the C.M. Newton Classic, returns to North Dakota and the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas, as well as Yale.
