ST, CLOUD — The Ridgewater baseball team went 1-1 Friday on the first day of the Region 13B tournament at the St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex.
Ridgewater remained alive in the tournament by beating Minnesota North-Hibbing 11-1 after losing to Riverland Community College of Austin 15-7 earlier in the day.

Both games were at the MAC’s Joe Faber Field.
Ridgewater is the sixth seed in the tournament. Hibbing is the 10th seed.
The Warriors scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning to break it open against the Cardinals (15-26). Andrew Prieve had an RBI single and eventually stole home to score a run. Mason Macziewski also smacked a bases-clearing, three-run triple for Ridgewater (18-16). Prieve is a sophomore from Hutchinson. Macziewski is a sophomore from Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted.
Ridgewater tacked on another four runs in the top of the seventh to put it away.
In their first game at Joe Faber Field, the Warriors allowed 20 hits to the third-seeded Riverland Blue Devils, led by Karlo Aguirre. Aguirre went 4-for-6 with a home run, two runs and six RBIs. For Ridgewater, Max Athmann was 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk and two runs. Prieve went 1-for-2 with a double, two hit-by-pitches, two runs, two stolen bases and two RBIs. Athmann is a sophomore from Paynesville. Ridgewater is the sixth seed. Riverland is the third seed.
Play continues for Ridgewater at 2 p.m. Saturday against No. 7 North Dakota State College of Science at Faber Field. If the Warriors win, they play again at 5 p.m. Second-seeded St. Cloud Technical and Community College beat NDSCS 13-12 also on Friday.
