INDIANAPOLIS, IND — Lander and North Georgia were both selected to play in the 2025 NCAA baseball tournament, the national office announced on Sunday night. Lander, the PBC tournament champion, is the #8 seed in the southeast region while North Georgia is the #6 seed.
The two teams will compete at separate four-team sub-regionals. Lander will play in Salisbury, N.C., and meet host and #1 seed Catawba in their first team. North Georgia is the #6 seed and will meet third-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne. That game will be hosted by second-seeded Belmont Abbey in Belmont, N.C.
Play at both sites will begin this Thursday, May 15. Game times will be announced on Monday.
North Georgia make their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2017, when they won the event to advance to the national championships. This will be their fourth appearance overall. The Nighthawks were co-regular season champions in the PBC and the #1 seed for the tournament. UNG is 39-15 overall heading into the regional and 23-4 in conference play.
Lander make their first appearance since 2016, where they won to make it to nationals. The Bearcats were PBC co-champions alongside North Georgia and swept their way to the conference tournament title last Friday, winning five straight. Lander has won 14 straight dating back to April 12 heading into the regional. Their 42 wins is the most of any conference team.
