COLUMBUS, Ohio — A new assistant has joined the Ohio State basketball coaching staff and he’s already familiar with one of its players.
Head coach Jake Diebler announced on Friday that former Indiana assistant Brian Walsh would fill the vacant spot left by Talor Battle, who’s now at Penn State.
Walsh spent eight years with the Hoosiers, with the last three being under Mike Woodson. He played at Xavier and Akron, then started his coaching career with the Zips in 2013. He also coached at Dayton before heading to Indiana in 2017.
“I’m excited for Brian and his family to join our Ohio State Hoops family,” Diebler said in a press release. “Brian is a proven recruiter with deep Midwest ties who has excelled at connecting with and developing players. His Big Ten scouting experience and analytics expertise are going to be a valuable asset to our program.”
By joining OSU’s staff, Walsh is reunited with guard Gabe Cupps who spent his first two years with the Hoosiers before transferring to Ohio State this offseason.
