Southern Miss rises in college baseball polls following sweep of Louisiana

Southern Miss baseball has climbed in the polls after extending its winning streak.

Southern Miss is ranked No. 19 in the USA TODAY sports coaches poll released May 12. That is up two spots from Southern Miss’ previous ranking. The bump comes after a sweep of Louisiana. Southern Miss outscored Louisiana 35-14 across the three-game home series.

The Golden Eagles (38-13, 21-6 Sun Belt) have won 12 consecutive games since a loss to Georgia State on April 18.

Southern Miss is chasing No. 11 Coastal Carolina (41-11, 23-4) for the Sun Belt lead. The Chanticleers have won 11 consecutive games.

Who does Southern Miss baseball play next?

Southern Miss will play at Troy for a three-game series on May 15 (6 p.m., ESPN+). It is the final series before the Sun Belt tournament.
