The day Eagles fans have all been waiting for is finally here. No, we’re not talking about Christmas, although that’s what this feels like.

We’re talking about the release of the NFL schedule.

In reality, there shouldn’t be much mystery to it. After all, the Eagles, like every NFL team, knew who they would be playing as soon as the 2024 regular season concluded.

But we didn’t know when the games would be played or which network or streaming service would be televising them. That is, until now.

Some of the games have already leaked out. The Eagles, for example, found out four of their 17 games on May 12 and May 13.

Birds fans won’t have to wait long for a Super Bowl rematch.

The Eagles are set to face the Kansas City Chiefs in a rematch of Super Bowl 59 come Week 2 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City at 4:25 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14.

There are four other Eagles’ games that have been leaked. Those are the season-opener, which will be played Thursday, Sept. 4 against the Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field. As the Super Bowl champion, the Eagles get to open the season in prime time on the Thursday leading into opening weekend.

The Eagles also know that they will be playing the Packers in Green Bay on Nov. 10, a Monday night matchup; hosting the Chicago Bears on Black Friday, or Nov. 28, the day after Thanksgiving, at 3 p.m.; and facing the Washington Commanders at Northwest Stadium on Saturday, December 20.

So far, the four known Eagles games take place on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday. We promise that the Eagles will play a bunch of Sunday games, although very few will be in the traditional 1 p.m. time slot.

Delawareonline is bringing you all the latest news, schedule leaks and rumors and analysis as the NFL schedule is released May 14.

The Eagles will not be among the teams participating in any of the seven overseas games in 2025. The Eagles played in Sao Paulo, Brazil last season. That was the first NFL game played in South America. The Eagles beat the Green Bay Packers 34-29:

  • TBD vs. Los Angeles Chargers, São Paulo, Friday, Sept. 5
  • Minnesota Vikings vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, Dublin, Sunday, Sept. 28
  • Minnesota Vikings vs. Cleveland Browns, London, Sunday, Oct. 5
  • Denver Broncos vs. New York Jets, London, Sunday, Oct. 12
  • Los Angeles Rams vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, London, Sunday, Oct. 19
  • Atlanta Falcons vs. Indianapolis Colts, Berlin, Sunday, Nov. 9
  • Washington Commanders vs. Miami Dolphins, Madrid, Sunday, Nov. 16

The Eagles will have one the toughest schedules of the 2025 season. That stands to reason since the Eagles will be playing a first-place schedule. Eleven of their 17 opponents from 2024 were in the playoffs.

The Eagles’ opponents had a .561 winning percentage in 2024, ranking the Eagles’ schedule the fourth toughest in the NFL, behind only the Giants (.574), the Lions and the Bears (both .571).

One thing that can always throw a monkey wrench into travel planning is the NFL’s flexible scheduling. The Eagles experienced this in 2023 when a Sunday afternoon game in Seattle was flexed to a Monday night.

Many fans who booked travel to Seattle had red-eye flights back to Philadelphia on Sunday night. Then they had to cancel that flight and rebook to come back Tuesday.

Here are the rules for the NFL’s flex scheduling:

  • Sunday Night Football: Weeks 5-10, up to two permitted; Weeks 11-17, at the league’s discretion
  • Monday Night Football: Weeks 12-17, at the league’s discretion
  • Thursday Night Football: Week 13-17, up to two permitted
  • Sunday afternoon: Can be shifted between 1 p.m., 4:05 p.m., or 4:25 p.m., as well as can be moved to Sunday night, Monday night, or Thursday night
  • Week 18 games: All games dates/times will be determined at the conclusion of Week 17

The NFL made some sweeping changes to scheduling in recent years, such as removing the requirement for each team to receive a primetime game, increasing Monday night doubleheaders and scheduling options. That includes adding more holiday-specific games and removing some ties between TV networks and specific conferences for Sunday matchups.

Friday night football: For the second year in a row, the NFL will be holding a Friday night game during Week 1 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. That game comes one night after the Eagles open the NFL schedule against Dallas.

The Brazil game is the first of a record seven international games this season. The NFL plans to have as many as eight international games beginning in 2026.

Christmas games: Move over, NBA. The NFL is looking to take over the whole holiday season from Thanksgiving to Christmas. The NFL will feature an Xmas tripleheader this season, and perhaps every year going forward. Christmas falls on a Thursday this year. Up until 2022, the NFL only played games on Christmas or Christmas Eve when the holiday lined up with the schedule on the calendar.

Short-week double-ups: Teams can appear on Amazon Prime Video’s TNF more than once or have short turnarounds multiple times in their schedule this season. Previously, teams could not have two “short week” games before a rule change approved by owners in March 2023.
