Mississippi State baseball broke its own home run record in a 25-7 series-opening win at Missouri (16-36, 3-25 SEC) on May 15.
The Bulldogs (32-20, 13-15 SEC) smashed eight home runs, a new program record. Three players, Ace Reese, Hunter Hines and Reed Stallman, each hit two homers.
Hines hit two home runs in MSU’s 10-run ninth inning to tie him with Rafael Palmeiro for the program career home runs record at 67. Two other Bulldogs blasted homers: Noah Sullivan and Joe Powell.
The 18-run scoring margin is tied for the fifth most in program history against an SEC opponent. The 25 runs are the most since 2010. The 23 hits are also a season high.
