York College (PA) names Rexroth Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

York College women’s basketball coach Katie Kilpatrick has announced that long-time Dallastown High School basketball coach Jay Rexroth has joined the Spartan coaching staff as a part-time assistant.

Rexroth concluded his Dallastown girl’s basketball coaching career this past March when he led his Wildcat team to a YAIAA championship and a berth in the PIAA State 6A Girls Tournament. Rexroth has been coaching in the YAIAA, mainly at Dallastown, since the 1987-88 season.

Kilpatrick is thrilled to have a very familiar face be a part of her first staff at York College.

“I am very excited to have Coach Rex join my first staff at York College,” says Kilpatrick. “His knowledge of the game is unsurpassed and his ability to connect with players is something that will really benefit our Spartan student-athletes. His going to be a great fit in the York College women’s basketball program.”

Kilpatrick is no stranger to having Rexroth on the bench. She was at Dallastown while Rexroth was coaching her three older brothers on the boy’s team. After her graduation from Dallastown, Kilpatrick headed York College where she was an all-conference player for the Green and White.

Rexroth was the head boy’s coach at Dallastown in 1993 after serving as an assistant from 1987 to 1993. He led the boy’s program for 16 years before stepping down. He won a pair of YAIAA Boy’s Championships in 1996 and 2001.

He served as the Dover High School girl’s basketball varsity assistant coach for three years and then moved to York Suburban to assist former Spartan Jess Weaver for two years. Rexroth returned to Dallastown, this time as the girl’s head coach, starting with the 2016-17 season.

Rexroth had a tremendous run of success over his nine-year tenure on the Wildcat bench. He guided Dallastown to five YAIAA championships, capturing the title in 2019, 2020, 2023, 2024, and 2025. Rexroth left on top as the Wildcats won the 6A Girl’s District 3 championship in 2025.

Dallastown played in three 6A District 3 championship games while his girl’s teams qualified for the PIAA State 6A Girl’s Tournament seven times in his nine years at the helm of the program. Three times, his Dallastown teams made it to the Elite 8 of the PIAA State 6A Girl’s Tournament.

Rexroth has accumulated over 400 wins combined while on the bench for Dallastown.

Rexroth has also served as the Dallastown Boy’s Tennis assistant coach since 2009.

He begins his York College duties immediately.
