247Sports rank: 5-star | 98 rating | No. 25 Overall | No. 1 ATH
Recruiting background: A 5-foot-11, 155-pound athlete out of Willis (Texas) High School, Jermaine Bishop committed to the Longhorns over offers from Florida, Houston, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and USC, among others. Texas special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Jeff Banks was the lead recruiter for the five-star prospect, who becomes the seventh member of the Longhorns’ 2026 recruiting class. In 13 games as a junior, Bishop hauled in 83 receptions for 1,565 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushed for 45 yards and one score on six carries on the offensive side of the ball, per MaxPreps. Defensively, he registered 26 tackles with three interceptions, six pass breakups and two forced fumbles while adding one kick return touchdown on special teams. He is the son of former Kansas State quarterback Michael Bishop, who won the Davey O’Brien Award and finished second in Heisman Trophy voting in 1998.
Abbreviated scouting report: “One of the best pure football players in the country, reflected by absurd production on both sides of the ball across multiple Texas 6A varsity seasons. Dynamic three-phase playmaker who lacks ideal measurables and frame specs, but possesses wiry tendon strength shown in ball skills, run-after-catch strength, and surprising striking power for such a lean cover man. Ball skills magician.” — Brooks
