A home series against a beatable team? Yes, you can count on the Cubs to win the first two games. We’ll see what happens tomorrow. Sunday. No need to dwell on that today.
The Cubs took game two from the White Sox in the Crosstown Classic, and I very much enjoyed watching with folks at our event at HVAC. Going to Wrigley Field is always its own beautiful thing, but I gotta tell you, sometimes it’s nice to just be hanging at a bar for the game. Thanks to everyone who came out. I had a blast before and during the game!
It was a well-pitched game overall for the Cubs, and it was interesting to see how the bullpen set up behind a Matthew Boyd quality start. I wouldn’t necessarily conclude that Brad Keller, Daniel Palencia, and Porter Hodge are the new 7-8-9 guys, but it did play out that way today.
Lots of running wild for the Cubs today, and also taking advantage of White Sox mistakes. Lotta directions you could go with the Ankin Law “Making it Personal” Player of the Game in this one, but I’m gonna go with Nico Hoerner, who was on base four times, scored twice, drove in a run, and stole a base.
