GAINESVILLE — Florida aims to land transfer guard Boogie Fland to bolster the Gators backcourt and round out its 2025-26 roster.
A source confirmed Fland will visit Gainesville Monday and leave Tuesday as coach Todd Golden seeks another versatile, explosive perimeter player after losing the veteran backcourt of All-American Walter Clayton Jr., Alijah Martin and Will Richard from the reigning national champions.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound native of the Bronx in New York City entered the NBA Draft after his freshman season at Arkansas. But he withdrew from consideration during the recent scouting combine in Chicago, which Golden attended.
Fland was second on the Razorbacks with a scoring average of 15.1 points and first in the SEC with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.68 when he tore a ligament in his right thumb during a 71-62 home loss to Florida Jan. 11.
Subsequent thumb surgery sidelined him until the postseason, when Fland returned for three games. He ended 2024-25 averaging 13.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.5 assists. But he also shot just 37.9 %, including 34 % from 3-point range.
Ranked No. 8 available transfer per 247Sports, the 18-year-old’s versatile skill set would fit the Golden’s fast-paced, high-scoring playing style.
The Gators like their chances to land Fland, whose agent is Florida standout Mike Miller. But the market for top transfers is unpredictable and highly competitive.
If he does end up in Gainesville, Fland would be the third newcomer on the perimeter, joining Princeton University transfer Xaivian Lee and Ohio University transfer AJ Brown, a former Orlando Christian Prep standout.
