GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – A stellar start to the week for the Gator men’s basketball team, as one of their top players in the post, Rueben Chinyelu is back to defend the post for his junior season.
On Monday morning, Chinyelu confirmed with CBS Sports, that he withdrew his name from the NBA Draft and announced that he is returning to the University of Florida.
Chinyelu elevated his game to a new level with the Gators and made an impression in the NCAA tournament, averaging 18 minutes on the court. He became a factor in winning the rebound battle for the Gators, finishing the postseason with at least seven rebounds a game and giving Maryland defenders a headache in the Sweet 16, putting up a tournament-high 10 points in the post.
Recently, the Gator center worked out at the NBA G-League Elite Camp at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, IL.
Multiple reports say that Arkansas transfer Boogie Fland is in Gainesville for the next couple of days. On Wednesday, the Gators are at the White House celebrating their third national title.
