Staying, Going, Hello: Roster outlook for Texas Longhorns Men’s basketball in 2025-26 under Sean Miller

AUSTIN, Texas – Nearly two months after his decision to leave Xavier for Texas, Longhorns’ first-year head coach Sean Miller has hit the ground running in reshaping the roster following Rodney Terry’s firing.

As currently constituted, four players (Jordan Pope, Tramon Mark, Chendall Weaver, Nic Codie) who played in double-digit contests for last year’s team will return in 2025-26.

Miller has added several talents through the transfer portal and made good on his promise to add high school talents, signing four-star forward John Clark and European prospect Lewis Obiorah.

With the Longhorns in the midst of the offseason, let’s take a look at who is going, staying and who to say hello to for 2025-26.

GOING

With Terry’s dismissal, there was a justified measure of speculation as to which Longhorns with eligibility remaining would be invited to remain with the program.

Of the eight players from last year’s roster who have remaining eligibility for the 2025-26 campaign, four have chosen to depart for either the NBA or another collegiate opportunity.

True freshman standout guard Tre Johnson was the most expected departure, as Miller stated as much during his introductory press conference.

“I would say that he needs to go [to the NBA],” Miller said following his March 25 presser at Darrell K. Royal Texas-Memorial Stadium.
