KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Tennessee star Zakai Zeigler wants to take the NCAA to court, and not the basketball kind.
The point guard filed a federal lawsuit against the NCAA Tuesday, looking to play college basketball for the 2025-26 season. The lawsuit claims the NCAA’s rule limiting play eligibility to four seasons within a players’ five-year window is illegal.
The lawsuit claims the NCAA cannot limit play without violating federal and state antitrust laws.
“We have requested a preliminary injunction to allow Zakai to compete in the upcoming season while pursuing his graduate studies,“ a representative for the player said. ”We look forward to a swift resolution to this matter so that Zakai can begin preparing for next season.”
Lawfirms Litson PLLC and Garza Law Firm will represent Zeigler.
