Frank Phillips College Athletic Director Gerald Ewing has announced Jay Bradley as the newest Head Coach for the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen.
Bradley is coming from Southern Illinois-Edwardsville (SIUE) as he spent one year as Assistant Coach/Director of Player Development for the Cougars. He was a part of a historic season for the Cougars as they won the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) and competed in the NCAA Tournament. The Cougars were knocked out by the eventual National Runners Up- Houston.
Before coming to Edwardsville, Bradley was the Head Coach at Northwest Kansas Technical College, a junior college in Goodland, Kansas.
After winning just three games the season before Bradley arrived, the program’s win total improved each season with Bradley at the helm. In the 2023-24 season the Mavericks won 16 games and advanced to the second round of the NJCAA Region 6 Tournament.
Bradley spent the 2020-21 basketball season as an assistant coach at Clarendon College, a junior college in Clarendon Texas. Bradley worked for previous Head Coach, Hunter Jenkins. With Bradley on staff, the Bulldogs placed third in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC). At Clarendon, Bradley helped mentor Zarique Nutter, who earned accolades as the WJCAC Freshman of the Year, and BJ Simmons, who was a All-WJCAC First Team selection.
Bradley previously was an assistant coach at Odessa College in Odessa, Texas and as the Director of Operations at Quincy University.
In addition to college basketball, Bradley was the head coach with ProSkills in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League and with the Cooz Elite Basketball program, which won the Puma Circuit.
Bradley also has coached Cason Wallace, who currently plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder, as well as Junior College All-Americans James Reese and Russel Harrison.
Bradley received his bachelor’s degree from Barclay College and holds a master’s degree from Texas Permian Basin.
