San Jacinto’s Sy Potter & Will Sternenberg sign to play college baseball

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – San Jacinto senior baseball players Sy Potter and Will Sternenberg signed with Wayland Baptist and Frank Phillips College, respectively, on Wednesday.

It’s the end of the school year, and while we still have a few softball and baseball teams in playoff action, most local athletes have hung up their jerseys until next season.

Many star seniors are signing their letters of intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level.

Potter signed with Wayland Baptist University in Plainview. The Pioneers went 42-19 in 2025. He spoke about how San Jacinto prepared him for the next level.

“I have a lot of good coaches around me to help me make the right decision,” Potter said. “I had a lot of coaches with college experience, a lot of connections, and things like that, so it was really influential. [Wayland Baptist] just stuck out, compared to all the other schools. God really opened the window for me. After having some calls with other coaches and stuff, I really just knew that Wayland was the place.”

Sternenberg signed to play at Frank Phillips College in Borger, where the Plainsmen went 13-41 in 2025.

He also spoke about how San Jacinto led him to this moment.

“This whole community at San Jacinto Christian Academy has helped me get ready for this,” Sternenberg said. “God opened the door for me to go there and I knew it’s the right fit. The coaches and everybody, they were very good coaches and they play in a really good conference.”
