Washington Basketball reportedly in final three for former Grand Canyon star

Danny Sprinkle and the Washington Huskies coaching staff are looking for one more player in the transfer portal to round out their rotation on the wing, and are reportedly among the three finalists for former Grand Canyon star Tyon Grant-Foster.

In a report from 247Sports, the 6-foot-7, 185-pound small forward, who is ranked as the No. 112 overall player in the transfer portal by the site, is deciding between Arizona State, Gonzaga, and the Huskies. Over his two years with the Antelopes, he averaged 17.8 points, 6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game.

Those numbers were good enough to earn him as spot on the All-WCC First Team in each of his two years, as well as the conference’s Player of the Year Award in the 2023-24 season.

Grant-Foster will be entering his final season of college basketball, which saw him spend two years at the junior college level before a year with the Kansas Jayhawks and another with the DePaul Blue Demons before he had to miss nearly two seasons following open heart surgery.

“I always had the confidence in myself,” Grant-Foster told GCU Athletics after his nearly two years away from the sport. “I have a different appreciation for basketball because you never know when something you love can be taken away from you. So you just cherish, not even basketball, but loved ones and stuff even more that you take for granted.”

If the Huskies are able to secure his commitment, he should be expected to be immediately inserted into the starting lineup, ahead of Indiana transfer Bryson Tucker and four-star freshman Jasir Rencher, who will round out the rotation at the position.
