Three storylines to watch for KU basketball this summer

Kansas basketball players will be reporting to Lawrence over the next few days as they get to campus for the start of the summer. With summer school set to begin next week, the players will be able to start working together away from the coaching staff in addition to some limited practice time with the staff, in accordance with NCAA rules.

It’s going to be an important summer with several key storylines to track over the next nine weeks. To me, there are three key things to watch in the coming weeks.

How long does it take for KU to find a final key piece?

It’s no secret that KU is looking for one more difference-maker to add to the roster. KU almost locked up international wing Dame Sarr before Duke swooped in and there was some positivity in Lawrence regarding KU’s chances to land Darrion Williams, but he ended up picking NC State. Now, KU is back to the drawing board as it looks for one more key addition.

The international ranks look to be KU’s avenue to fill the spot at the moment. There are some talented international prospects out there, some of whom are testing the NBA Draft waters. The key date for international players in the NBA Draft is June 15, which is the final day to withdraw.
