The ACC released the conference basketball schedule for next season and Duke will get home-and-home matchups with UNC and Louisville.
And that’s it.
The Home Only games are Boston College, Clemson, Georgia Tech, SMU, Syracuse, Virginia, Wake Forest
The Away Only games will be California, Florida State, NC State, Notre Dame, Pitt, Stanford, Virginia Tech
Duke and Miami will not play at all during the regular season.
This has all gotten rather stupid. There are reasons for expansion which, in the current environment, are understandable, but how can you have a meaningful conference race if you don’t even play all the teams? And what has the ACC lost without a round robin basketball schedule? That part really is a shame.
Duke should win its home games, though Clemson will present a challenge and a couple of other schools may as well.
As far as the away games go, we can’t say about all the opponents, but State has been a challenge in Raleigh and should be under Will Wade as well, while Notre Dame and Pitt could also be rough visits.
Again, everyone understands why expansion has happened, but it’s really sad that we’re only getting two home-and-home games.
Two.
That’s just not right.
