NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – In this edition of FFF: I breakdown my preseason college football rankings, Oldham Athletic is back in English league football, and my continued red beans and rice journey.
FOOTBALL
Spring football is in the books and the transfer portal is finally slowing down. So I thought it was a perfect time to lay out my 2025 preseason college football rankings.
Now, don’t get too emotional about these rankings, because they will get busted up in Week 1 of the regular season.
I have Texas No. 1 and they open at No. 2 Ohio State. No. 7 LSU visits No. 3 Clemson on Labor Day weekend. Plus, No. 5 Notre Dame hits the road to matchup with No. 12 Miami.
Once again, those games all take place on opening weekend. That’s a blockbuster schedule to start the 2025 campaign.

After 115 years in league football, Oldham Athletic dropped out at the end of the 2024 season.
A year later, the “Latics” are back in league football, English League 2.
In front of over 50,000 fans, Oldham Athletic beat Southend United in added extra time, 3-2. With the promotion comes a $1.25 million bump in money to Oldham Athletic.
Yes, life is better in league football.
FOOD
My red beans and rice travels continued on Monday. I’ve heard the hype at Chicken’s Kitchen in Gretna, and now I’m a believer.
The beans, mixed with fried chicken, cornbread, and mac and cheese were excellent. It’s no doubt in my top-5.
If you do carryout, their website directs you to the “Coop by Chicken’s Kitchen.” It’s four blocks away from Chicken’s Kitchen, but it’s fast and easy to do carryout.
The lines at Chicken’s Kitchen can get long, so the Coop can help when you’re in a rush.
