What are the odds of Texas A&M reaching the 2025 College Football Playoff?

Following a haul of transfers and the return of one of the league’s most athletic quarterbacks, the Texas A&M football program ranks as one of the top Southeastern Conference teams in odds to make the 2025 College Football Playoff.

According to ESPN’s FPI metric, the Aggies are ranked fifth in the conference with a 34.3% chance to make the playoffs this season.

Here are the full SEC odds via ESPN:

  1. Texas – 83.9%
  2. Georgia – 78.6%
  3. Alabama – 68.2%
  4. Tennessee – 38.5%
  5. Texas A&M – 34.3%
  6. Ole Miss – 30.7%
  7. LSU – 30.3%
  8. Auburn – 21.8%
  9. South Carolina – 20.3%
  10. Oklahoma – 18.4%
  11. Florida – 14.5%
  12. Missouri – 9.2%
  13. Arkansas – 8.2%
  14. Kentucky – 3.3%
  15. Vanderbilt – 0.9%
  16. Mississippi State – 0.7%

Although the chances for the Aggies to reach the CFP for the first time in school history are low, they are not impossible. Talents such as sophomore signal-caller Marcel Reed, running back Le’Veon Moss and former NC State wideout KC Concepcion bring electric speed and athleticism to head coach Mike Elko’s offense.

Former Colorado defensive end Dayon Hayes, along with edge rushers Sam M’Pemba (Georgia) and T.J. Searcy (Florida), bring much-needed depth to the defensive line after losing Nic Scourton and Shemar Stewart.

However, the schedule will provide the Aggies with some difficulties as the season progresses. Elko and company have an opportunity to rewrite the wrongs of last season against Notre Dame and Texas on the road this season.

Below is Texas A&M’s full schedule this season:

8/30 – UTSA (6 p.m. CT)

9/6 – Utah State (11:45 a.m. CT)

9/13 – at Notre Dame (6:30 p.m. CT)

9/27 – Auburn (TBD)

10/4 – Mississippi State (TBD)

10/11 – Florida (TBD)

10/18 – at Arkansas (TBD)

10/25 – at LSU (TBD)

11/8 – at Missouri (TBD)

11/15 – South Carolina (TBD)

11/22 – Samford (11 a.m. CT)

11/28 – at Texas (6:30 p.m. CT)

Only time will tell if Texas A&M can break through the glass ceiling and reach the playoffs this season. If Eklo leads the Aggies to the promised land, it will be the program’s first appearance in the CFP, as they strive for the first football national championship since 1939.
