LSU pitcher Kade Anderson is projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, according to a new mock.
MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo updated his projections on Thursday with Anderson sliding into the top spot over prospects like Ethan Holliday, Liam Doyle and Jamie Arnold, amongst others. Here’s an excerpt of Mayo’s analysis on his projection for Anderson to be picked No. 1 by the Washington Nationals:
The lefty is athletic, throws strikes and has a legit four-pitch mix. With all of his stuff ticking up in the Regional, it looks like he still has plenty in the tank, checking off the durability box. Oh, he’ll also have just turned 21 before the Draft as a sophomore-eligible prospect.
LSU baseball, of course, is no stranger to producing No. 1 overall picks. Paul Skenes went No. 1 overall in the 2023 draft after a dominant career at LSU. He’s quickly become one of the best pitchers in all of baseball.
Anderson is perhaps not at Skenes’ level as a prospect, but he has established himself as a sure-fire top-5 pick in this class and certainly seems to be in the mix as early as No. 1 overall to Washington.
