DETROIT – Postseason college football is set to return to the Motor City.
The GameAbove Sports Bowl announced that its 2025 matchup at Ford Field will be played at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26. The game will be televised on ESPN.
The matchup will be the second under the GameAbove Sports banner. The company specializes in charitable giving, capital investment, sports entertainment, and media ventures. It replaced Quick Lane as the title sponsor.
Detroit has hosted a bowl game since the creation of the Motor City Bowl in 1997.
“We were thrilled with how everything went in our first year as presenting sponsor of this game,” said Keith J. Stone, Chairman of CapStone Holdings Inc.
“GameAbove, the Lions and Ford Field worked in concert to make the GameAbove Sports Bowl one of the most memorable post season games last year. We’re incredibly honored to have been a part of this tradition in Detroit, and we’re excited to see it play out again this December. “
The Detroit bowl typically features teams from the Mid-American Conference and the Big Ten, but ACC teams have also played.
Toledo beat Pittsburgh, 48-46, in a 6-OT thriller in 2024.
