Derrick Henry in next Adam Sandler movie? He’s only 2000 yards away, ‘Waterboy’ star says

Derrick Henry: movie star?

The former Alabama football Heisman Trophy-winning running back and nine-year NFL veteran with the Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens has a bit more on the line heading into the 2025 NFL season.

In an appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show” on June 6, host Patrick promised Henry that if he rushed for 2,000 yards next season for the Ravens that he would be in comedian Adam Sandler’s next film.

Henry, when complimenting Patrick’s sweatshirt that was given to him by the comedian, said he was a “really big fan” of Sandler and that the running back “would really love to meet him one day.”

Sandler then sent Henry a video doubling down on the agreement Patrick created.

“Two thousand yards plus gets you not only in the movie, but we have a nice dinner together and talk about Dan Patrick’s facial hair and how hard it is for him to grow it,” Sandler said. “I love you. Keep it up.”

Henry rushed for 2,027 yards in 2020 for the Titans on 378 carries, fifth-most in NFL history.

Henry is one of nine backs who have rushed for more than 2,000 yards in a single NFL season. Eric Dickerson holds the single-season rushing record at 2,105 yards.

In 2024, Henry had 1,921 rushing yards and a league-high 16 touchdowns on 325 carries.

In his Heisman-winning 2015 season at Alabama, Henry rushed for 2,219 yards on 395 carries.
