BATON ROUGE – For the first time since 2023, LSU baseball is back in super regionals. And not only are the Tigers playing in it, they are hosting the super regional round.
No. 6 national seed LSU (46-15) advanced to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament after outlasting Little Rock, 10-6, Monday night in the if necessary game. LSU beat Little Rock, 7-0, and Dallas Baptist, 12-0, to make it to the Baton Rouge Regional final where it lost the first game to Little Rock, 10-4.
West Virginia (44-14) went unbeaten at the Clemson Regional last weekend and defeated Kentucky, 13-12, in the regional championship game Sunday.
“A great team, championship team,” LSU coach Jay Johnson said of the Mountaineers, who won the regular season Big 12 title. “They have an identity in how they play. Good starters, a couple of really good bullpen pieces.
“An aggressive baserunning team on offense. They do a good job of hitting with runners on base, runners in scoring position and playing with a lot of confidence right now.”

LSU baseball vs. West Virginia: Super Regional Schedule
The Baton Rouge Regional was matched up with the winner of the Clemson Regional for the NCAA Super Regional round. While it took LSU four games to emerge out of the home regional last weekend, West Virginia advanced with three-straight wins at Clemson, beating regional 1-seed Clemson once and 3-seed Kentucky twice.
