Former Georgia running back Nick Chubb is expected to sign with the Houston Texans on Monday, according to a report by NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport reported on Sunday night that the veteran free agent who’s spent the first 7 seasons of his pro career with the Cleveland Browns is heading to Houston. Chubb’s signing with the Texans is pending a physical.

Chubb was drafted by the Browns in the 2nd round in 2018 and has stuck with Cleveland. He’s rushed for a combined 6,843 yards in 7 seasons with the Browns, averaging 5.1 yards per carry with 51 touchdowns. Chubb also had 1,042 yards receiving during his time with Cleveland, which appears to be coming to an end.

He’s looking for a fresh start in 2025 after his past 2 seasons were limited because of injuries. Chubb only played a combined 10 games during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Chubb is a 4-time Pro Bowl selection, making it 4 straight seasons from 2019-22 before the injuries started mounting in 2023 and 2024.

He was the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2014 at Georgia and rushed for a combined 4,769 yards and 44 touchdowns during his 4-year run in Athens.

Now, after all these years in Cleveland, it looks like Chubb will be getting that needed fresh start and hopefully some health to go with it.
