ECU, App State will play each other in college basketball over next four seasons

East Carolina and Appalachian State announced on Monday a play for a four-game, home-and-home men’s basketball series to play out over the next four years.

The first game will take place on Dec. 11 at East Carolina’s Williams Arena.

The series will alternate sites each season.

The Pirates
will travel to Boone to meet the Mountaineers at the Holmes Center in
2026, then host App State in Minges in 2027. The Pirates will conclude the
series with a return trip to Boone in 2028.

East Carolina and App State have met 64 times with the last
contest coming in Boone on Nov. 12, 2019. The Pirates lead the all-time series
37-27 and have won three of the last four meetings. The last time that the
Pirates faced off with the Mountaineers in four consecutive seasons was from
1998-99 to 2001-02.
