BATON ROUGE — LSU baseball advanced to the 2025 College World Series after completing a sweep in the NCAA Super Regional with a 12-5 win over West Virginia at Alex Box Stadium on Sunday night.
The Tigers (48-15) are now one of eight teams left standing in the college baseball and will play next at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, next weekend. LSU will face a familiar foe to open things up in Omaha as it will take Southeastern Conference rival Arkansas in its first game of the College World Series.
Arkansas (48-13) swept SEC foe Tennessee in the Fayetteville Super Regional to get to college baseball’s hallowed grounds. The Razorbacks beat the Vols 4-3 in the first game of the series Saturday and closed out the best-of-three series with an 11-4 win Sunday.

How LSU baseball advanced to College World Series
The Tigers needed the if-necessary game to get out of the NCAA Regional round last weekend at Alex Box Stadium. LSU opened the NCAA tournament with back-to-back wins over Little Rock and Dallas Baptist before dropping the first super regional-clinching game 10-4 to Little Rock. LSU roared back in the regional’s Game 7 with a 10-6 win to advance to supers.
LSU then won the first two of the three games with West Virginia for the sweep. LSU won Game 1 16-9 before securing a spot in the College World Series with a 12-5 win Sunday night.
How Arkansas reached College World Series
The Hogs have not lost since the start of the NCAA tournament. Dave Van Horn’s team rolled through regionals, going 3-0. Arkansas beat North Dakota State 6-2 before winning back-to-back games over Creighton 12-1 and 8-3 to earn a spot in the super regional round.
Arkansas’ pitching staff led the way during super regionals, limiting a potent Tennessee offense to just seven runs over two games.

Should LSU defeat Arkansas in the first game at the College World Series, it would play in the winner’s bracket Monday night (6 p.m. CT, ESPN). If the Tigers lose against Arkansas, they would play in the loser’s bracket Monday afternoon (1 p.m. CT, ESPN).
