Louisville baseball’s Dan McDonnell on pitcher Patrick Forbes’ talent
Louisville baseball coach Dan McDonnell explains what makes pitcher Patrick Forbes a great athlete and Forbes’ future at the professional level.
OMAHA, NE. — There was something different about this Louisville baseball team.
During the fall, outfielder Eddie King Jr. said the group knew it had the potential to be special. Even through injuries and adversity, the Cardinals were confident in their ability to make a deep postseason run.
“The group never really gave up at all,” pitcher Patrick Forbes said. “So, I think that just kind of shows what kind of group we are and how competitive we are.”
The Cardinals reaped the rewards of staying together and competitive: U of L is squaring off against Oregon State today at the College World Series. The only other time the programs have played was in the 2013 CWS, when Oregon State beat Louisville 11-4.
The winner tonight will play No. 13 Coastal Carolina at 7 p.m. Sunday on ESPN2.
