Michigan State football’s schedule and key games for the 2025 season.
- Michigan State football secured a commitment from three-star cornerback TJ Umenyiora for its 2026 recruiting class.
- Umenyiora, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect from Georgia, chose MSU over SEC schools like Auburn and Mississippi State.
Michigan State football coach Jonathan Smith continued his busy month on Saturday, June 14, landing his ninth commitment for the 2026 class in a span of just two weeks.
Cornerback TJ Umenyiora out of Blessed Trinity Catholic in Roswell, Georgia, became the latest to pledge to the Spartans on Saturday, announcing on social media that he’s “100% committed” to playing in East Lansing after he wraps up his high school career this fall.
Umenyiora is listed at 6 feet 1 and 185 pounds and is a three-star recruit, ranked as the No. 87 cornerback and 1,085th overall player in his class by 247 Sports’ composite rankings.
TJ Umenyiora is the son of former NFL defensive end Osi Umenyiora, who played 11 seasons in the league with the New York Giants (nine years) and Atlanta Falcons (two years).
He chose the Spartans over some strong SEC competition like Auburn and Mississippi State.
Umenyiora is the second cornerback in MSU’s 2026 class, joining KJ Deriso, another 6-foot-1 cornerback also out of Georgia.
With Umenyiora’s commitment, the Spartans have the No. 32 class in the nation, according to 247 Sports’ rankings.
