The time has come for the Arch Manning era. Quinn Ewers is gone. Steve Sarkisian has crafted the perfect offense for any signal-caller. And the Texas Longhorns are set to reap the rewards with Manning.
The world is expected of Manning, despite him not getting extended playing time aside from a short stretch where he filled in for Ewers in 2024. Still, his performances were enough to have fans calling for him to usurp Ewers mid-season. That never came to fruition, but now the runway is clear. Many expect Manning to dominate every defense and then become the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. But he might not even be the best QB in the nation this season.
Clemson’s Cade Klubnik considered the best quarterback in all of college football
A to Z Sports’ staff writers came out with a ranking of the 68 power conference QBs. Three quarterbacks came in ahead of Manning in the ranking: Clemson’s Cade Klubnik, South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers and Arizona State’s Sam Leavitt.
Klubnik and Leavitt have already proven it on the big stage. Klubnik put together a 43-touchdown season in 2024, while Leavitt led the Sun Devils to the College Football Playoff. Sellers was a dual-threat revelation in 2024 and should only get better in his second season as the starter.
Manning still has plenty to prove about his overall game, although many have slotted him in as the top quarterback in the nation already. Perhaps more surprisingly, Penn State’s Drew Allar and LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier were ranked No. 7 and 8, respectively. Those two have generally been considered as equals to Klubnik and Manning on many lists.
