NBA Trade Rumors: Expect This Team To ‘Go After’ Jaylen Brown

Whether or not Jaylen Brown is available is only known to those within the walls of the Auerbach Center. But if the Boston Celtics star is available, one well-connected NBA insider believes a Western Conference contender would stage a full-fledged pursuit.

“Jaylen Brown is interesting,” Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix said during a recent episode of “The Kevin O’Connor Show.” “If he’s in play, that’s someone I think San Antonio will look at and will go after.”

The San Antonio Spurs hold the second overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, which will be held June 25. San Antonio almost certainly would have to part with such asset — and more, of course — to acquire Brown from Boston.

“That’s someone, I think if you’re the Spurs, you’re willing to give up the No. 2 overall pick,” Mannix said. “Jaylen Brown — if he’s available, again, we don’t know if he’s available yet, but if he’s available — I would expect San Antonio to be among the teams to make a run at him.”

The NBA offseason is likely to pop off in the next week or so with NBA free agency unofficially starting June 30 when teams can begin negotiations with players.

Just about everyone expects the Celtics will do something in an effort to shed salary, it’s just not yet known how deep the cuts will be.
