Longtime college football analyst David Pollack is betting on Arizona State football quarterback Sam Leavitt to win the Heisman Trophy in 2025.

“By far, the best odds on the board to me is Sam Leavitt,” the two-time consensus All-American for the Georgia Bulldogs said about the Heisman Trophy odds board. “Like, give me Sam Leavitt. It’s +2500, I’m not putting him below three as best quarterbacks in college football.”

Pollack said this on his See Ball Get Ball podcast on Monday, June 16.

In his first full season as a starter, and his first season in general with the Arizona State Sun Devils, Leavitt averaged 8.2 yards per pass attempt and four yards per rush attempt. The team went from 3-9 in 2023, to 10-2 and a No. 7 AP Poll finish in 2024 after Leavitt transferred to Tempe from Michigan State.

“So you play the most important position, I think they’re going to be in the College Football Playoff hunt, they’re going to be a highly ranked team for the season,” Pollack, a two-time SEC Defensive Player of the Year, said. “They’re going to put up silly numbers. He’s going to run it, he’s going to throw it. Like, I think that’s really really good odds man.”

ASU won the Big 12 last season. It won a first-round bye for the College Football Playoff and played in the Peach Bowl, which was the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal. Leavitt scored 29 total touchdowns (five rushing) to six interceptions in 2024, while running for 443 yards.

ASU lost its 2024 First-Team All-Big 12 running back in Cam Skattebo. They placed 60th in national recruiting for 2025. If the team does want to be in the hunt for the College Football Playoff, a Heisman-winning campaign from Leavitt would be one way to do it.
