
Iowa football just held one of its big recruiting weekends where the Hawkeyes welcomed in a number of their top targets in the recruiting classes ahead with their annual Hawkeye Tailgater.
Here’s a look at all of the different visitors that made their way to campus last weekend for the Hawkeye Tailgater and a little bit about each.
Will Slagle
Will Slagle is a blue-chip, in-state recruit from Grinnell High School. The 6-foot-4, 295-pound offensive lineman is the nation’s 145th-ranked player per 247Sports. 247Sports also rates Slagle as the No. 5 interior offensive lineman and as its top player from Iowa in the 2027 class.
Slagle’s father played at Iowa State.
Soren Fifer
Soren Fifer is a 6-foot-7, 295-pound offensive tackle in the 2027 class from Morton High School in Illinois. Fifer holds offers from both Iowa and Illinois.
Mason Halliman
A three-star offensive tackle recruit in the 2027 class according to On3 out of Lincoln-Way East in Illinois, Halliman holds offers from schools such as Iowa, Arizona State, Iowa State, Illinois, Kansas State, Missouri and Nebraska.
Luke Brewer
Iowa has been in on Luke Brewer dating back to last summer when the Hawkeyes first offered. A four-star tight end recruit in 2027 per Rivals, Brewer holds offers from a who’s who of college football, including Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Iowa State, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
Keysan Taylor
The Hawkeyes handed out the first Division I offer to Guilford High School prospect Keysan Taylor. Taylor has since picked up an offer from Wisconsin as well. Taylor is a 6-foot-4, 225-pound edge rusher in the 2027 class.
Peyton Miller
A 6-foot-5, 295-pound offensive lineman in the 2027 class, 247Sports rates Peyton Miller as a blue-chip recruit out of the Lone Star State. Miller attends Anna High School in Texas and also has offers from programs such as Arkansas, Clemson, Florida State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas and plenty of other Power Four schools.
Blake Betton
A 6-foot-3, 195-pound linebacker in the 2027 class, Blake Betton hails from Shakopee High School in Minnesota. Illinois, Iowa State, Minnesota, Vanderbilt and Washington State have also offered.
Tommy Riordan
Tommy Riordan, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound edge rusher in the 2027 class, was among the group that picked up an Iowa offer upon his visit. A prospect from Hinsdale Central High School in Illinois, Riordan is the younger brother of 2026 Iowa offensive line commit Gene Riordan.
Correll Buckhalter
Correll Buckhalter Jr., a talented running back out of Texas, grabbed an Iowa offer. The 2027 prospect from Covenant Christian Academy in Colleyville, Texas, is ranked as a four-star by Rivals and as the No. 20 running back. Buckhalter also has offers from schools such as Arkansas, Houston, Missouri, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, SMU, TCU, UCLA and Oregon State.
Carter Barrett
A class of 2028 prospect, Carter Barrett is a 6-foot-6, 290-pound offensive tackle. Barrett already has offers from Arkansas, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Wisconsin.
Hayden Shannon
Hayden Shannon recently visited Iowa for camp. The 6-foot-4, 275-pound offensive tackle is a class of 2028 prospect from Prairie City Monroe. Shannon has offers from both Iowa State and Nebraska.
